Sheena Bora Murder Trial Hit by Missing Evidence: Key Remains Vanish

Mumbai, June 24, 2023

– The ongoing trial of the sensational Sheena Bora murder case has hit a major roadblock after a key piece of evidence went missing. According to media reports, the remains of Sheena Bora, sent to JJ Hospital for forensic examination, have now become ‘untraceable’, dealing a significant blow to the prosecution’s case.

During a hearing on Friday, the prosecution informed the CBI court in Mumbai that the bones, which the CBI claims are those of Sheena Bora, are reportedly nowhere to be found. Ranjeet Sangle, the advocate for the prime accused Indrani Mukerjea, stated that an extensive search had been carried out to locate the items examined by the forensic expert related to the murder trial but nothing was found.

The missing remains played a crucial role in the case as they were examined by JJ Hospital forensic expert Dr. Zeba Khan, who confirmed that the collected evidence was indeed human remains. This examination was instrumental in establishing the prosecution’s narrative.

Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in the case, was granted bail by the Supreme Court in May 2022. Sheena Bora, the daughter of Indrani Mukerjea, was allegedly murdered in 2012. The CBI has been investigating the case since 2015 after taking over from the Mumbai Police.

The disappearance of the remains raises serious questions about the integrity of the case and is likely to have far-reaching consequences for the trial. The next hearing in the case is set to take place on June 27, and it remains to be seen how the prosecution will proceed without the crucial evidence.
