In a recent development, the Strathcona County RCMP has disclosed that an additional adult female has come forward with allegations of sexual assault against Amit Mali, 42, of Sherwood Park. Mali, formerly the principal of Sherwood Heights Junior High, was initially charged on May 3 with three counts of sexual assault and one count of criminal harassment. The new charge stems from an ongoing investigation initiated after a report was filed on February 2. Upon further investigation, Mali was arrested and made a court appearance on Wednesday.
The RCMP continues to urge any potential victims or individuals with relevant information to contact them at 780-467-7741. Elk Island Public Schools had previously confirmed that they were made aware of the complaint against an employee in February and had placed the individual on leave. The employee is no longer employed by the district.
