The controversy stemmed from an X post by Nick Tomaino, founder of the cryptocurrency-focused fund 1confirmation. Tomaino’s list of most impactful crypto projects to date notably excluded Shiba Inu, leading to Kusama’s retort: “Again, the disrespect… smh #SHIB.”
While some suggested Shiba Inu’s lack of recognition could be attributed to its price failing to reach $0.01, Kusama strongly disagreed. “I’m sorry…top 10 isn’t chump change ser. Those who are wise give us respect. “Crypto Twitter” just hasn’t DYOR,” he stated, emphasizing the coin’s significant market capitalization and placing it firmly within the top cryptocurrencies.
Kusama’s response follows a recent highlight of Shiba Inu’s staggering growth, boasting a lifetime increase of 33,774,726.7% from its all-time low. This remarkable performance further underscores the coin’s importance and underscores the frustration felt by Kusama and the Shiba Inu community.
Kusama also pointed to the ongoing efforts of the Shiba Inu team to further enhance the ecosystem, adding that the project is working to gain broader recognition. “So, don’t ignore Shib. Or do, until you can no longer,” Kusama challenged critics, hinting at the potential for Shiba Inu to rise above the current perception.
The $11 billion cryptocurrency has surged 80% year-to-date, although it trails behind Dogecoin, the most valuable meme coin, which has gained 92% in the same period. At the time of writing, Shiba Inu was trading at $0.00001872, down 2.23% in the last 24 hours.
