India’s all-rounder Shivam Dube will miss the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh due to a back injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Saturday that young batsman Tilak Varma has been selected as Dube’s replacement. Varma is set to join the Indian squad in Gwalior on Sunday morning, ahead of the first T20I scheduled for Monday.
The decision comes as a blow for Dube, who was likely to play a key role in the series. However, it opens up an opportunity for the talented Varma to prove himself on the international stage. The 20-year-old left-handed batsman has impressed in domestic cricket and will be eager to make his mark in the T20I format.
India will be looking to build on their recent success in the T20I format, having won their last series against New Zealand. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the team in the series against Bangladesh.
