Shocking Incident: 60-Year-Old Stripped, Dragged in Jharkhand on Cow Smuggling Suspicion

In a chilling incident that has come to light, a 60-year-old man named Surswati Ram was subjected to a horrific ordeal in Garhwa district, Jharkhand, on suspicion of cow smuggling. On Friday, as Ram was traveling to Banshidhar Nagar Untari with his cattle, he was intercepted by three individuals who accused him of involvement in cow smuggling. According to the FIR lodged in the matter, the accused, identified as Rahul Dubey, Rajesh Dubey, and Kashinath Bhuiyan, were riding a motorcycle when they stopped Ram. They then proceeded to strip him and tie him to their vehicle, dragging him for some distance before abandoning him on the road. The victim sustained injuries and was subsequently taken to Banshidhar Nagar Untari sub-divisional hospital for treatment. The police have apprehended Kashinath Bhuiyan, while the search for the remaining two accused is ongoing. This incident bears an eerie similarity to another reported in March, where four men from Haryana were allegedly beaten by locals on suspicion of cow smuggling in Rajasthan’s Alwar district. In that instance, seven cows were also rescued from the scene and taken to a cow shelter. These incidents highlight the prevalence of vigilante justice and the urgent need for addressing the issue of cow protection in a responsible and lawful manner.
