Shocking Revelations Emerge After Microsoft’s Bethesda Studio Closures

Microsoft’s Bethesda Studio Closures: Unseen Projects Revealed

In the wake of Microsoft’s surprising closures of Tango Gameworks, Arkane Austin, and Mighty Dog Games, fresh information has emerged regarding the projects these studios were actively developing.

A recent Bloomberg report has disclosed that Tango Gameworks was in the midst of pitching a sequel to Hi-Fi Rush, the widely praised rhythm action game released in 2023. This revelation has come as a major disappointment, as Hi-Fi Rush had the potential to establish itself as a cornerstone franchise for Microsoft and Bethesda. However, it appears that the project’s growth was prematurely halted.

Moving on to Arkane Austin, IGN has confirmed that the studio had plans for offline updates and the introduction of new heroes for Redfall this year. Additionally, the Bloomberg report indicates that the studio was also pitching its next title. Sources familiar with the matter suggest that Arkane Austin desired its next project to be a single-player immersive sim game, potentially a continuation of the Dishonored series, rather than another multiplayer title like Redfall.

Regrettably, none of these projects will come to fruition as a result of the studio closures. During a town hall meeting following the closures, Head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty and Head of ZeniMax Studios Jill Braff acknowledged that Xbox management was experiencing challenges in efficiently supporting the growing number of studios acquired in recent years.

Braff explained in the meeting, ‘It’s difficult to provide adequate support to nine studios worldwide with a centralized team that is increasingly burdened with responsibilities. We were on the verge of collapse.’

Consequently, Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin appear to have been targeted for closure due to their current lack of active projects and the substantial resources and supervision required for their future endeavors.
