Singer Shreya Ghoshal has taken the difficult decision to reschedule her highly anticipated ‘Shreya Ghoshal Live, All Hearts Tour Ishq FM Grand Concert’ in Kolkata, originally planned for September 14th. The decision comes in response to the recent horrifying rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar hospital in the city.
Expressing profound shock and distress over the incident, Ghoshal took to Instagram and X to announce the postponement. In a heartfelt message, she stated, “I am deeply affected by the gruesome and heinous incident that recently took place in Kolkata. Being a woman myself, the very thought of the sheer brutality that she must have gone through is unthinkable and sends shivers down my spine.” Ghoshal emphasized her need to stand in solidarity with victims of violence against women, stating, “This concert was highly anticipated by all of us, but it is absolutely imperative for me to take a stand and join you all in solidarity.”
The concert, originally scheduled for the Netaji Indoor Stadium on September 14th, will now be rescheduled to October. The organizers have reassured ticket holders that their existing tickets will remain valid for the new date.
Ghoshal’s decision reflects the widespread outrage and grief that has followed the tragic incident. Many other celebrities, including Alia Bhatt, Kangana Ranaut, Kareena Kapoor, Karan Johar, Hrithik Roshan, and Randeep Hooda, have also expressed their horror and condolences over the doctor’s death. The incident has sparked calls for justice and raised concerns about the safety of women in India.
