Apple TV+ has revealed that the highly anticipated second season of its acclaimed comedy-drama, *Shrinking*, will premiere on Wednesday, October 16th. The streamer shared the news with a short video showcasing the ensemble cast, who are ready to bring more laughs and tears to your screens.
The show follows Jimmy Laird, a therapist grappling with the recent loss of his wife, played by Jason Segel. Feeling frustrated with his patients’ inability to take action, Jimmy decides to take a radical approach: he starts interfering in their lives with brutally honest advice. While this method might be ethically questionable, Jimmy witnesses positive changes in his patients’ lives, which in turn helps his own healing process.
The stellar cast includes Jessica Williams as Gaby, Luke Tennie as Sean, Michael Urie as Brian, Lukita Maxwell as Alice, Christa Miller as Liz, Ted McGinley as Derek, and Harrison Ford as Paul Rhoades. A notable addition to season 2 is *Shrinking* co-creator and *Ted Lasso* star Brett Goldstein, who will make a guest appearance.
Created by Segel, Goldstein, and Bill Lawrence, the first season of *Shrinking* premiered on Apple TV+ in January 2023. It was met with critical acclaim and positive reviews, earning Segel and Williams Emmy nominations for lead actor and supporting actress, respectively.
In his review of season 1, Alex Welch of Digital Trends noted the show’s ability to seamlessly blend humor, heartache, and comfort. With the return of the beloved characters and the introduction of new faces, season 2 of *Shrinking* is poised to continue captivating audiences with its unique blend of comedic absurdity and genuine emotional depth.
