Frustration with airline delays is a common traveler’s gripe, and Bollywood actress Shruti Haasan recently joined the chorus of discontent. The actress took to social media to express her disappointment with a four-hour delay on an IndiGo flight, highlighting the lack of information provided to passengers.
Shruti’s tweet, addressed directly to IndiGo, expressed her frustration with the lack of updates and the feeling of being stranded at the airport. “Hey I’m not one to normally complain but @IndiGo6E you guys really outdid yourself with the chaos today, we’ve been stranded in the airport with no information for the past four hours – maybe figure a better way for your passengers please? Information, courtesy and clarity (sic),” she wrote.
IndiGo responded, acknowledging the inconvenience but citing weather conditions in Mumbai as the reason for the delay. “Ms Haasan, we sincerely regret the inconvenience caused by the flight delay. We fully understand how inconvenient extended wait times can be. The delay is due to weather conditions in Mumbai, which is affecting the arrival of the operating aircraft,” the airline stated. “We hope you understand that these factors are beyond our control, and we assure you that our airport team is doing their utmost to assist customers and ensure their comfort (sic).”
Shruti’s experience isn’t an isolated incident. Earlier this month, actress Divya Dutta also took to social media to criticize IndiGo for canceling her flight without prior notice, calling it a “horrendous experience.” In October, actress Tillotama Shome slammed Air India for an 8.5-hour delay on a Mumbai-London flight, pointing out the lack of accountability and solutions offered by the airline despite its status as the national carrier.
These incidents highlight a growing trend of passenger dissatisfaction with Indian airlines. The lack of transparency and communication during flight disruptions is a recurring theme, leading to frustrated travelers seeking answers and accountability from airlines. As Shruti’s experience demonstrates, even celebrities aren’t immune to these frustrations, highlighting a systemic issue within the industry.
Meanwhile, Shruti Haasan is set to appear in several upcoming films, including “Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryanga Parvam” and “Chennai Story.”
