Shubman Gill Becomes Youngest Indian To Play 100th IPL Match

Shubman Gill, the young Indian cricketer, has entered the history books of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after becoming the youngest Indian cricketer to play 100 IPL matches. The 24-year-old achieved this milestone during the ongoing 2024 match between the Gujarat Titans and the Delhi Capitals at Stadium on Wednesday.

Gill, who made his IPL debut in 2018 with the Kolkata Knight Riders, has firmly established himself as a consistent performer in the cash-rich league. Since joining the Gujarat Titans in 2022, he has amassed 3,088 runs in 96 IPL innings at an impressive average of 38.12 and a strike rate of 135.20. His tally includes three centuries and 20 fifties.

Gill’s accomplishment surpasses the previous record held by Rashid Khan, who became the youngest cricketer to play 100 IPL matches during the 2023 edition of the tournament. Gill missed Khan’s record by just eight days, having achieved the feat at the age of 24y and 229d.

The young batsman’s stellar performance has been instrumental in the Gujarat Titans’ success in the IPL. The team currently stands second in the points table and is a strong contender for the title.

More updates on Gill’s performance and the Gujarat Titans’ progress in the ongoing IPL tournament will be provided as they become available.
