Sikkim has been struck by two devastating landslides in recent days, causing significant disruption and loss of life. In Namchi district, a landslide tragically claimed the lives of three individuals, while a subsequent landslide in Mangan district on the intervening nights of June 12 and 13 resulted in the deaths of six people.
Over 1,200 tourists are currently stranded in Mangan district due to the landslides, which have severely damaged roads and communication networks. If weather conditions allow on Sunday, authorities plan to evacuate the stranded tourists.
