Simone Rocha’s Spring/Summer 2025 show wasn’t just about the clothes; it was a captivating performance of beauty. Makeup artist Thomas de Kluyver, known for his work with actors, aimed to capture a similar energy. He drew inspiration from dancers and choreographers, particularly Pina Bausch and Michael Clark, creating a theatrical and grunge-inspired beauty look.
The models embraced a natural, ‘skin-cared’ look, ditching foundation in favor of a healthy glow. De Kluyver explains, “Hydrating cream, serum, and eye cream applied with a massage gave them a very natural shine, as if they were preparing for a performance.”
While all the models sported bare skin, de Kluyver and Rocha crafted three distinct beauty looks. The first was a bold two-toned lip, featuring a neon red base topped with a deep burgundy applied to the center of the mouth. The second, a dramatic eye with shimmering black shadow, captured a quintessentially London spirit.
And finally, the most striking look – a spectacular floral mask crafted from carnation petals. It echoed the floral motifs that threaded through the collection.
Completing the theatrical yet grunge-infused look were Rocha’s signature beaded hair clips and intricately braided hairstyles, overseen by Cyndia Harvey. The result was a celebration of beauty that felt both theatrical and grounded in the spirit of London’s streets.
