Simran Sharma of India added another medal to India’s impressive Paralympic haul, claiming a bronze medal in the women’s 200m T12 event at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. Simran clocked a new personal best time of 24.75 seconds to secure her place on the podium.
The gold medal in the event went to Cuba’s Omara Durand Elias, who finished with a time of 23.62 seconds. Venezuela’s Alejandra Paola Perez Lopez took home the silver medal with a time of 24.19 seconds.
The T12 category is for athletes with vision impairment. Simran’s bronze medal is India’s 16th medal in para athletics at the Games, solidifying India’s strong performance in this category. Overall, India has secured a total of 28 medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympics – six gold, nine silver, and 13 bronze – showcasing a remarkable display of athleticism and determination.
