As a key supplier of HBM to Nvidia, SK Hynix has capitalized on the surge in demand for AI services like ChatGPT, which heavily rely on memory-intensive servers. The company anticipates continued growth in this sector, projecting a 900% surge in profits for the same quarter. SK Hynix’s NAND business has also witnessed a resurgence in profitability due to increased sales of premium embedded solid-state drives.
Looking ahead, SK Hynix aims to expand its customer base for HBM3E, which entered production in March. Meanwhile, the company remains focused on developing advanced DRAM products, such as DDR5, particularly tailored for server applications. Moreover, SK Hynix recently announced a substantial investment of over 20 trillion won ($14.5 billion) to establish a cutting-edge chip production facility in Cheongju, South Korea. This new facility, designated as M15X, will primarily focus on DRAM production and is scheduled to commence mass production in 2025.
