SK hynix has just announced the development of the PEB110 E1.S (PEB110), a new high-performance SSD specifically designed to power data centers and fuel the growth of the AI era. As the demand for high-performance NAND solutions, including SSDs for data centers and ultra-fast DRAM chips like High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), continues to escalate, SK hynix is strategically positioning itself at the forefront of this revolution.
To meet this rising demand, the company has created the PEB110, a game-changing product that utilizes PCIe Gen5 specifications to deliver unparalleled data processing speed and remarkable power efficiency. The PEB110 is poised to expand SK hynix’s already robust SSD portfolio, complementing their successful mass production of the PS1010.
The company is currently in the qualification process with a global data center customer, aiming for mass production of the PEB110 in the second quarter of 2025. To ensure the highest level of information security, SK hynix has incorporated SPDM (Security Protocol and Data Model) technology into the PEB110. This is a groundbreaking move, as it marks the first time SK hynix has integrated SPDM into its data center SSDs. SPDM, a specialized security solution designed to protect server systems, provides secure authentication and monitoring, offering a crucial layer of defense against cyberattacks.
In the face of increasing cyber threats targeting data centers, SK hynix recognizes the critical need for enhanced information security measures. The PEB110 with SPDM is positioned to meet these growing security requirements, ensuring data integrity and customer peace of mind. Ahn Hyun, Head of the N-S Committee at SK hynix, expressed confidence in the PEB110’s potential, stating, “This new product leverages our best-in-class 238-high 4D NAND, achieving the most competitive standards in the industry regarding cost, performance, and quality. Looking ahead, we are committed to customer qualification and volume production to solidify our position as the No. 1 global AI memory provider in the ever-growing SSD market for data centers.”
The PEB110 will be available in 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB capacities, and will support the OCP version 2.5 specifications, ensuring broad compatibility across global data centers. SK hynix is poised to revolutionize the data center landscape with the PEB110, offering a high-performance, secure, and scalable solution for the AI era.
