The Spartans displayed their prowess from the outset, chasing down a target of 150 with ease on a pitch that presented a bit of a challenge.
R. Kavin ignited the chase with a quick-fire 46 off 34 balls, hitting eight boundaries. However, it was R. Vivek’s explosive middle overs that truly sealed the deal. Vivek, who remained unbeaten on 51 off 28 deliveries, smashed five fours and three sixes, showcasing a fearless approach and launching a flurry of powerful shots. His winning shot, a scoop over the wicketkeeper off a short ball, was a fitting reflection of the Spartans’ aggressive intent.
Earlier, the Dragons, having elected to bat first, faced early pressure from the Spartans’ bowlers. Shivam Singh and R. Ashwin, the opening pair, found themselves under duress against Sunny Sandhu and S. Harish Kumar, who claimed two wickets each.
