This enhanced offering, officially open to the public since August 22nd, 2024, invites guests to embark on a wellness journey deeply rooted in Icelandic traditions.
Skjól, meaning ‘shelter’ in Icelandic, is more than just a name; it’s a philosophy. The expansion embodies the core of Icelandic bathing culture, encouraging visitors to connect with the raw elements of Iceland. The heart of Skjól is the newly expanded Turf House, a sanctuary inspired by Iceland’s natural landscapes. Guests are guided through a transformative experience, where every detail, from design to architecture, reflects the beauty of Iceland’s surroundings. Key additions to the Turf House include Ylur, a second sauna boasting Iceland’s largest single-pane glass window, offering breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Another unique element, Saft, introduces a traditional elixir infused with krækiber (crowberries), native to Iceland’s lava fields. This elixir, combined with the other elements of Skjól, creates a multi-sensory experience that honors Iceland’s rich history and traditions.
