This consistent performance underscores SLO CAL’s status as a thriving tourism destination, showcasing the region’s captivating attractions, picturesque landscapes, and vibrant local culture.
This remarkable achievement is not only a testament to SLO CAL’s tourism industry but also a reflection of the county’s diverse economic landscape. Tourism stands as the second-largest economic driver in SLO CAL, following agriculture, and plays a pivotal role in fostering sales growth, innovation, and job creation across multiple sectors.
In 2023, tourism in SLO CAL generated a substantial $60.1 million in transient occupancy tax revenue, a testament to the industry’s significant contribution to the local economy. Furthermore, this vibrant industry provides employment for 22,830 residents each day, marking a commendable 2% year-over-year increase. The tourism sector encompasses a wide range of businesses, including lodging, food services, arts, entertainment, recreation, ground transportation, wineries, breweries, and distilleries, all contributing to SLO CAL’s diverse and thriving economy.

This announcement coincides with the U.S. Travel Association’s NTTW, celebrated from May 19-25, 2024.
