Smriti Mandhana Climbs to Third in ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings

India’s vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has made a significant leap in the ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings, jumping two places to secure the third spot. This rise comes after her impressive performance in the recent series against South Africa, where she smashed a match-winning century, her maiden hundred on home soil. Mandhana’s impressive knock of 117 led India to a dominant 143-run victory over South Africa in the three-match series. With 715 points, she now trails Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu, who lost her top ranking to England’s Natalie Sciver-Brunt. Sciver-Brunt reclaimed the number one spot with a magnificent unbeaten 124 against Pakistan last month.

Meanwhile, India’s senior all-rounder, Deepti Sharma, has climbed three spots to reach 20th in the rankings. Her teammate, Pooja Vastrakar, also enjoyed a rise, moving up three places to 38th. Vastrakar made a particularly strong surge in the all-rounders rankings, gaining four places to reach 18th. However, South Africa’s veteran all-rounder, Marizanne Kapp, continues to hold the top spot in the ODI all-rounders list.

In the ODI bowling rankings, Deepti Sharma gained a spot to move up to fourth after her impressive figures of 2/10 in the series opener. England spinner Sophie Ecclestone remains comfortably at the top of the rankings for ODI bowlers.
