During the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), a candidate named Lipsa Sahu suffered a snake bite incident at the Rangamati Kiranmoyee High School in West Bengal’s Medinipur city. The incident, reported by Anandabazar Patrika, occurred on May 5th. Lipsa, who was present at the school to take the medical entrance exam, entered the restroom before the exam’s commencement. It was there that she was bitten by a snake. Her screams alerted other students and caused panic. Lipsa subsequently informed her parents of the incident, and she was promptly taken to the hospital.
At around 1:10 PM, Lipsa was admitted to Medinipur Medical College for treatment. Her residence is in the Gopiballavpur area of Jhargram district. She was accompanied to the exam by her father, Purnachandra Sahu, and her mother, Manorama Sahu. Doctors at the government hospital initially conducted a blood test on Lipsa. Following treatment, she was placed under observation. Remarkably, it was reported that Lipsa returned to the exam center after receiving medical attention to continue taking the exam.
The incident at Rangamati Kiranmoyee High School highlights the challenges associated with conducting exams during the summer vacation period, when school buildings are often deserted. NEET (UG), formerly known as the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), is a nationwide entrance exam for students seeking to pursue undergraduate medical courses in India. Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the NEET exam was administered across the country on May 5th. The results are expected to be announced on June 14th at neet.ntaonline.in.
