Sneh Rana Achieves Historic Eight-Wicket Haul in Women’s Test

Sneh Rana made history on Sunday, becoming the second Indian woman to pick up eight wickets in an innings during a Women’s Test match. The 30-year-old off-spinner achieved this remarkable feat against South Africa Women at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai. Rana’s stellar performance, with figures of 8/77 in 25.3 overs, places her second only to Neetu David, who first achieved this milestone in 1995 during a Test against England Women in Jamshedpur.

Rana’s day began with the dismissal of openers Laura Wolvaardt and Anneke Bosch on Day 2. She then added the wicket of half-centurion Sune Luus to her tally. Continuing her relentless assault on the Proteas batting line-up, Rana bowled through the tail on the morning of Day 3, eventually bowling them out for 266. Her remarkable performance adds another chapter to the already rich history of Indian women’s cricket, showcasing the talent and skill within the team.
