Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit, a premier hotel for Sofitel Hotels in Southeast Asia, has achieved a significant milestone in its sustainability journey by securing its first Green Globe certification. This 32-story hotel, known for its art deco inspiration and prime location in the heart of Sukhumvit, embodies French sophistication while demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental responsibility.

The hotel’s dedication to sustainability is evident in the various initiatives it has implemented. One notable example is the use of Smart Room technology, which enables real-time management of air conditioning systems, optimizing operational efficiency and accuracy. This technology not only contributes to energy savings but also enhances the overall guest experience.

Another crucial aspect of the hotel’s sustainability strategy is its commitment to reducing food waste. The implementation of the Winnow system has resulted in a significant 20% reduction in food waste. This system empowers kitchen staff to track and analyze waste, allowing chefs to refine the menu at the all-day dining restaurant and minimize future waste.

The hotel has also made strides in eliminating single-use plastic amenities. Soap dispensers have been installed in both public and private bathrooms, replacing traditional soap bars. The remaining soap bars are collected and donated to the Soap for Hope initiative, ensuring their responsible recycling and distribution to communities in need.

Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit’s dedication to sustainability extends to its approach to reuse and refurbishment. Following recent renovations, much of the furniture was refurbished rather than replaced. Tables were restored, chairs were repainted, and a policy of returning reusable seafood containers to suppliers was established to minimize waste.

Recognizing the need to reduce plastic consumption, the hotel is actively transitioning away from plastic water bottles. New water filtration systems and hydration stations have been introduced for guests and staff, providing access to clean and refreshing water without relying on single-use plastic bottles.
