On Friday, August 26th, the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Chennai apprehended a software engineer, K V Kishore, for sexually harassing another software engineer on a Chennai-bound train. Kishore, a 25-year-old resident of Kumarapalayam near Bhavani in Namakkal district, was traveling in a second-class sleeper coach of an express train.
The victim, who was travelling from Karur to Chennai, encountered Kishore while using the washroom. Upon exiting the washroom, she was met with Kishore engaging in indecent behavior, blocking her path. When she voiced her disapproval, Kishore proceeded to touch her inappropriately.
The victim, displaying courage and quick thinking, captured a photograph of Kishore and retreated to her berth. Upon arriving at Chennai Central, she sought assistance from the Government General Hospital.
GRP Police Chief S Vanitha, recognizing the seriousness of the incident, assembled special teams to apprehend the suspect. Led by Railway Superintendent of Police (SP) I Eswaran, a team diligently tracked down Kishore using the photograph provided by the victim. This swift action by the GRP resulted in the arrest of Kishore, ensuring justice for the victim and sending a strong message against such heinous acts.
