Sonali Bendre’s Cancer Journey: From ‘Why Me?’ to ‘Why Not Me?’

Sonali Bendre, known for her openness about her battle with cancer, shared her journey through a podcast interview with Humans of Bombay. Initially, upon receiving her stage four cancer diagnosis, her immediate thought was, ‘ Why me ?’ She questioned why she would be the one to face this adversity. However, she gradually shifted her mindset. Instead of dwelling on ‘why me?’ she began questioning, ‘Why not me?’ This shift in perspective allowed her to find gratitude in her situation and recognize that she had the strength to cope with it.

Bendre underwent treatment at a New York City hospital and achieved remission in 2021. Since then, she has become an advocate for cancer awareness and supports survivors. She encourages others to take #OneDayAtATime and to #SwitchOnTheSunshine.

Bendre is making her return to the screen in the newsroom drama series ‘ The Broken News ’, which will premiere on an OTT platform in May 2024. She will appear alongside Shriya Pilgaonkar and Jaideep Ahlawat.

Sonali Bendre’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience and the importance of finding strength in adversity. Her story inspires others facing similar challenges to stay positive and never give up hope.
