Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, along with Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, called on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in New Delhi on Monday. The meeting took place after the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Bangladesh prime minister arrived in Delhi on Saturday to attend the mega-event, which was also attended by top leaders from neighboring countries and the Indian Ocean region. President Droupadi Murmu hosted a banquet for foreign dignitaries at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday. Leaders from Sri Lanka, Maldives, Seychelles, Mauritius, and Nepal attended the banquet. Bangladesh foreign minister Muhammad Hasan Mahmud said that Prime Minister Hasina expressed her willingness to work with the new Indian government to strengthen ties between the two countries. She also invited Prime Minister Modi to visit Bangladesh. The relationship between India and Bangladesh has reached a new height under the leadership of both the prime ministers, according to Mahmud.
