Sonos Unveils Major App Redesign with Enhanced Features and Seamless Music Discovery

Sonos unveils a comprehensive redesign of its mobile app, boasting increased reliability and ease of use for managing your audio ecosystem and discovering music. The redesigned app, set to debut on iOS and Android on May 7th, introduces a unified home screen that integrates over 100 music streaming services, eliminating the need to switch between tabs. Users can now customize the home screen to their preferences, rearranging content and services to their liking.

The incorporation of a universal search bar is a notable addition, addressing the fragmented nature of the music market. Users can now search for songs, artists, albums, podcasts, or audiobooks across all platforms at once, displaying where each item is available. Users can also set preferred services to be prioritized in search results, ensuring quick access to their favorite content.

Sonos has also introduced new system controls, accessible by swiping up from the bottom of the home screen. This feature provides an overview of the entire system, allowing users to view what’s playing on each connected device. Speakers can be quickly started or stopped, volume can be adjusted with a tap, and multiple devices can be grouped together for simultaneous control.

While the desktop app will be discontinued, it will be replaced by a web browser version that offers the same functionality, even when users are away from their home networks. This transition date has not yet been announced.

This major app redesign by Sonos aims to enhance the user experience by simplifying music discovery, streamlining system controls, and providing a more cohesive and personalized home audio management platform.
