Sony’s latest foray into the competitive hero shooter market, ‘Concord,’ has faced a rocky start on Steam. Sales estimates for the PC version hover around a disappointing 8,400 to 17,700 copies sold, suggesting a total revenue well below $1 million. This underwhelming performance is reflected in the game’s low player numbers, with less than 700 concurrent players during its launch weekend and a current count of only 170 players on Steam.
Despite negative headlines highlighting the game’s struggles, there has been no significant surge in player interest or sales. Moreover, while ‘Concord’ has attracted more viewers on Twitch than active players (with peak viewership exceeding 8,700 compared to 697 concurrent players), this doesn’t seem to have translated into tangible sales growth.
Interestingly, the situation appears to be vastly different on the PlayStation Store. While ‘Concord’ ranked a meager #511 on Steam’s best-seller charts, it achieved a much more respectable #42 position on the PlayStation Store’s charts. This suggests that the game might hold more appeal to PlayStation players than PC users.
It’s important to remember that these sales figures are estimates based on publicly available data. The actual figures remain unknown, and only Sony Interactive Entertainment and Valve possess the complete picture. Nevertheless, the stark contrast between the game’s performance on Steam and the PlayStation Store raises questions about its potential for long-term success.
