Sony’s PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter Unveiled for August Release
Good news for PC gamers who have been eagerly waiting to get their hands on the PlayStation VR2 headset! Sony has finally unveiled its much-anticipated PC adapter, which will be released this August, allowing players to experience the immersive world of VR gaming on their PCs.
The PlayStation VR2 boasts some impressive technical specifications, but it has faced criticism for its limited game library on the PS5. However, Sony’s PC compatibility solution aims to address this issue by opening up the headset to a wider range of VR games available on Steam.
To use the PSVR2 with your PC, you will need a DisplayPort 1.4 cable and a compatible computer. Sony recommends using a PC with Windows 10 or 11, an Intel Core i5-7600 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 processor, at least 8GB of RAM, and a compatible graphics card. For optimal performance, Sony suggests using an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600XT graphics card or higher.
The PSVR2 PC adapter does have some limitations. For instance, PC VR games will not be able to take advantage of the headset’s haptic feedback, HDR, and eye tracking features. Additionally, the 3D Audio will use SteamVR’s audio technology instead of the PS5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech.
Despite these limitations, the PSVR2 PC adapter still allows players to experience the headset’s key features, including its 4K visuals, 110-degree field-of-view, see-through view, and foveated rendering. The adapter will be available for purchase on August 7th at a retail price of $60.
