In Sultanpur on Saturday, Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party (SP), asserted that the Rae Bareli and Amethi Lok Sabha seats would be among those where the INDIA bloc candidates would secure victories with record-breaking margins. He emphasized the strength of the SP-Congress alliance, stating that the partnership had made them a formidable force. “Amethi and Rae Bareli will also be among the seats where we (the SP and the Congress) will register victories with record margins in the country,” Yadav told reporters. “With the Samajwadi Party and the Congress coming together, one and one have become eleven, and this time, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will become naw do egyahar (run away) and reduced to zero.” In Rae Bareli, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi is contesting on the symbol of the grand old party, while Kishori Lal Sharma, a long-time trusted aide of the Gandhi family, is the Congress candidate for Amethi. Yadav further criticized the ruling BJP for its slogan of ‘400 paar’ (cross 400), alleging that it demonstrated the party’s arrogance. He predicted that the BJP would fail to surpass 140 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. Addressing an election rally in support of party candidate Ram Bhul Nishad, Yadav outlined the SP’s promises, including the restoration of the old pension scheme, loan waivers for farmers, and the creation of 30 lakh jobs. He also announced that the Agniveer scheme would end after June 4. “Our youth wanted to protect the country’s borders with a permanent job, but the BJP made it into an Agniveer scheme. When the results come on June 4 and the government is formed, the Agniveer system will also end forever,” he declared. Yadav accused the BJP of deliberately leaking recruitment examination papers to avoid hiring the nation’s youth. “More than 10 exam papers were leaked, which disappointed our youth,” he said to the gathering. “The BJP government has left every youth of Sultanpur unemployed, looted the farmers’ crops, and raised the prices of electricity, diesel, and petrol; what answer does the BJP have for this?” The SP president concluded by expressing confidence that the SP-Congress alliance would emerge victorious in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He urged the people to vote for the alliance to bring about change and progress in the country.
