Get ready to swing into action, Spidey fans! Tom Holland has finally confirmed what we’ve all been waiting for: Spider-Man 4 is officially happening. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Holland addressed the long-awaited sequel, confirming its existence and even revealing when cameras will start rolling.
“It’s happening,” Holland told Fallon when asked about Spider-Man 4. “Next summer, we start shooting. Everything’s good to go. We’re nearly there. Super exciting. I can’t wait.”
The Spider-Man news didn’t stop there. While promoting his non-alcoholic beer Bero on Good Morning America, Holland teased the “crazy” idea that Marvel and Sony have in store for the fourth film. “The idea is crazy,” Holland said. “It’s a little different to anything we’ve done before, but I think the fans are gonna really respond to it.”
The news comes just days after Holland accepted a starring role in Christopher Nolan’s next movie. Holland’s schedule is about to get jam-packed, as he’s tentatively planning to shoot Nolan’s project in early 2025, followed by Spider-Man 4 next summer. And somewhere in the middle of those two projects, Holland will likely have to squeeze in his scenes for Avengers: Doomsday.
Behind the scenes, Destin Daniel Creed has entered negotiations to direct Spider-Man 4, while Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the writing duo behind Holland’s previous Spider-Man films, are penning the script. Marvel’s Kevin Feige and Sony’s Amy Pascal are on board to produce.
So, when can we expect to see Spider-Man 4 hit theaters? Given the summer 2025 shooting schedule, the film could potentially release sometime in November 2026 or July 2027. The current MCU release schedule has slots open for those dates, and a quick turnaround for Spider-Man 4 seems likely.
