Spirit Airlines Takes Flight from San José to New Destinations

San José Mineta International Airport (SJC) is delighted to announce the expansion of Spirit Airlines’ services with three new nonstop routes from SJC this summer. The low-cost carrier will connect San José to Los Angeles (LAX), Portland, Oregon (PDX), and Baltimore-Washington (BWI), making it easier and more affordable for travelers to explore these vibrant destinations.

Spirit Airlines’ commitment to San José extends beyond these new routes. The airline will also enhance its existing service to Las Vegas (LAS) and San Diego (SAN), providing travelers with greater flexibility and convenience.

San José Mayor Matt Mahan expressed his enthusiasm for Spirit’s expanded offerings: “I’m thrilled to see Spirit expand their offerings out of San José to some of our country’s major metro areas. Low-cost carriers like Spirit help everyone, no matter their income level, have the opportunity to visit family, explore new cultures and broaden their perspectives.”

San José City Manager Jennifer Maguire echoed the Mayor’s sentiments, stating: “I am extremely pleased our partner, Spirit Airlines, is launching three new routes from SJC this summer. This provides the traveling public and our community with more flight options and continuing SJC’s “spirit” of flying simple by offering more affordable direct flights.”

The new service between SJC and BWI reestablishes a connection previously offered by Southwest Airlines until 2019. Spirit’s flights to LAX and PDX will augment the current nonstop services provided by other airlines at SJC.

Spirit Airlines, which debuted at SJC in June 2023, is the airport’s sole domestic Ultra Low-Cost Carrier. Its expansion at SJC reflects the growing demand for affordable air travel and the airport’s commitment to providing diverse travel options.
