Spotify is taking playlist customization to the next level with the launch of its new “Create Cover Art” feature. This exciting addition lets users design their own unique cover art for their playlists, bringing a fresh and creative element to their audio experience. The feature is currently in beta and available in English across 65 markets, accessible to both free and Spotify Premium users.
To unleash your creative potential, simply open one of your playlists, tap the three dots (…) for the context menu, and select “Create Cover Art.” You’ll then have the option to either upload an existing image or dive into the brand-new art editor.
The editor provides a blank canvas where you can start crafting your masterpiece. Your playlist’s name will be prominently displayed on a default background. These backgrounds are randomly generated, so you might find yourself working with a solid color like blue or green, a vibrant gradient, or even a colorful rainbow. Feel free to personalize the text by adding or removing words, playing with font sizes and colors, and applying various effects to make it truly your own.
The sticker selection might not be extensive, but you can add as many as you like, and you can even resize them to create eye-catching arrangements.
Once you’re satisfied with your design, simply save it, and it will instantly update your playlist, ready to be shared across all your favorite platforms.
The possibilities are truly endless. Let your imagination run wild, and create playlist cover art that reflects your unique personality and taste. Keep in mind, however, that Spotify’s Platform Rules apply, so ensure your creations adhere to these guidelines.
According to Spotify, if your cover art is removed for violating their rules, it might be difficult to recover it, unless you’re an EU resident. Apparently, EU residents have the right to appeal content moderation decisions made by Spotify.
With over 8 billion playlists already created, it’s safe to assume that many Spotify users will embrace the new feature and express themselves through personalized cover art. This creative outlet adds another layer of personalization to an already popular platform.
In addition to this new feature, Spotify has been actively exploring ways to enhance the playlist experience. They recently launched an AI playlist creation tool, offering assistance in curating playlists, and partnered with Instagram to enable one-tap song saves directly from the social network, making discovering new music even easier.
