SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – A 35-year-old Springfield man died after crashing a scooter at a slow speed on Sunday night near the corner of High and School streets.
The man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The cause of his death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The Police Department’s Traffic Bureau is also investigating the incident.
According to police spokesman Ryan Walsh, the man was driving the scooter at about 8:10 p.m. when he hit the curb and fell. The scooter was stolen before responding police arrived at the scene.
The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of his family.
