SRH Coach Vettori Calls for Continued Challenges and High Totals

Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Daniel Vettori stressed the significance of maintaining high standards and challenging the team to achieve ambitious scores. Speaking ahead of their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Vettori applauded the batting unit’s exceptional performance, particularly acknowledging the contributions of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Heinrich Klassen, Abdul Samad, and Nitish Rana. He noted the complementary roles played by these players and emphasized the ability of each member to contribute to the team’s success. Vettori lauded Pat Cummins’ captaincy, comparing it to his leadership style with the Australian national team. He praised Cummins’ preparation, game-reading abilities, and effective collaboration with bowlers and coaches. Vettori highlighted the team’s ability to defend high totals, crediting the bowlers for their exceptional performances, exemplified by T. Natarajan’s contribution in the previous game. He acknowledged the high-scoring nature of the tournament while emphasizing the team’s expectation to chase down challenging targets. Vettori expressed his belief that the Impact Player rule has allowed teams to adopt a more aggressive batting approach. He clarified that the rule does not diminish the role of all-rounders, citing the example of Nitish Rana and Abhishek Sharma’s bowling contributions. Vettori explained that the rule simplifies team selection by providing greater flexibility and coverage. Regarding the wicket for the upcoming match, Vettori predicted a similar high-scoring game to the one played against Mumbai Indians.
