Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) cruised to a resounding 10-wicket triumph over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 encounter on Wednesday. Chasing a target of 166 runs, SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma put on an unbeaten 167-run partnership to guide their team to a comprehensive victory in just 9.4 overs.
LSG, batting first, posted a competitive total of 165/4 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to a half-century from Ayush Badoni (55*). However, SRH’s bowling unit, led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s two-wicket haul, restricted LSG from posting a more challenging score.
In response, SRH openers Head (89*) and Sharma (75*) played with great composure and aggression, smashing the LSG bowling attack to all parts of the ground. Head, in particular, impressed with his exquisite stroke-play and power-hitting, while Sharma provided valuable support with his clean timing and calculated stroke selection.
SRH captain Pat Cummins was elated with the team’s dominant performance, praising the batting efforts of Head and Sharma. He also acknowledged the team’s overall improvement throughout the tournament, highlighting their ability to chase down targets effectively.
With this victory, SRH climbs to third place in the IPL 2024 points table, while LSG remains in sixth. The win also extends SRH’s winning streak to four matches, solidifying their position as one of the most in-form teams in the competition.
