SRH Skipper Pat Cummins Channels Pushpa, Thrils Fans with Telugu Dialogues

SRH skipper Pat Cummins has emerged as a true crowd-pleaser, not only with his exceptional cricketing skills but also with his charming off-field persona. The Australian all-rounder has effortlessly assimilated into the Telugu-speaking fanbase, much to their delight.

In a recent social media video released by Star Sports, Cummins showcased his linguistic prowess, uttering iconic dialogues from popular Telugu movies. His first choice was from the famous ‘Pokkiri’ movie, where he declared with unwavering determination, “Once I commit, I don’t listen to anyone else.”

Cummins then proceeded to ask the fans their opinion of him, before confidently asserting, “He is mass!” This line, taken from the blockbuster movie ‘Pushpa,’ resonated deeply with the Telugu audience, who have embraced Cummins as one of their own.

To top off his impressive display of Telugu dialogue, Cummins even performed the signature hand gesture from Pushpa, popularized by Allu Arjun. This gesture, known as “Thaggede Le,” has become synonymous with the character and has been widely imitated across the country.

Cummins’ fluency in Telugu and his ability to connect with the local fans on a deeper level have endeared him to the SRH faithful. His leadership on and off the field has played a pivotal role in the team’s success this season, with SRH currently sitting third in the IPL standings.

SRH’s impressive performance in the 2024 IPL season has been marked by several record-breaking achievements. They achieved the highest score in IPL history, scoring an astonishing 287/3 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. This record-breaking total was complemented by their remarkable run-rate of 11.2, the highest in the league.

Additionally, SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma set a new benchmark by scoring 125 runs in the powerplay against DC, the highest in men’s T20 cricket for any powerplay phase.

Cummins has also had a significant impact on SRH’s success this season. Under his captaincy, SRH has secured five wins in seven matches, with Cummins himself picking up 9 wickets in those matches. SRH will next face RCB at their home ground in Hyderabad on April 25, where they will look to continue their winning ways and solidify their position in the top three.
