Sri Lanka Cricket has taken immediate action against wicketkeeper-batter Niroshan Dickwella, suspending him following allegations of an anti-doping violation during the Lanka Premier League (LPL). The decision, announced on Friday, comes after a test conducted by the Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency (SLADA) during the recently concluded LPL tournament. Dickwella captained the Galle Marvels during the LPL.
Sri Lanka Cricket emphasized their commitment to maintaining the integrity of the sport, stating that the suspension will remain in place until further notice. The test was conducted as part of the SLC’s ongoing program, undertaken in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and adhering to World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) guidelines. This initiative aims to ensure that cricket remains free from the influence of prohibited substances.
Dickwella, a left-handed batsman, has faced disciplinary issues before and last played for Sri Lanka in March 2023. His suspension adds another chapter to his troubled relationship with the national cricket board.
