SriLankan Airlines, the national carrier of Sri Lanka, and Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles, have forged a codeshare partnership to enhance travel options for their passengers across Asia, Africa, and Australia. This collaboration will enable passengers traveling between Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, and Mahé, the capital of Seychelles, to enjoy seamless connectivity and a wider range of destinations.
Through this partnership, SriLankan Airlines will extend its reach into Africa with bi-weekly flights between Colombo and Mahé. Air Seychelles, on the other hand, will gain access to over 20 new destinations including sought-after cities like Sydney and Melbourne in Australia, as well as popular locations in India, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Richard Nuttall, Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that it will boost their codeshare network and presence in the African region. He anticipates working closely with Air Seychelles to provide passengers with expanded African destination options in the future.
Charles Johnson, Air Seychelles’ Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted the success of their twice-weekly flights to Colombo over the past 9 months. He emphasized that the codeshare agreement is a natural progression in their relationship, allowing passengers the convenience of a single ticket to access a broader range of destinations served by both airlines in Asia and Australia.
This partnership will enable both SriLankan Airlines and Air Seychelles to share flight codes, allowing passengers to book travel on either airline under a single reservation. This will simplify the travel process, including checking luggage through to the final destination. Passengers can make bookings through online platforms or local travel agents, ensuring a hassle-free travel experience.
