SriLankan Airlines and flydubai, the Dubai-based airline, have joined forces to offer enhanced travel options for passengers. The new interline partnership, effective from September 9, 2024, opens up seamless connections between Sri Lanka, the UAE, and numerous international destinations. This collaboration expands the reach of both airlines’ networks, providing travelers with greater flexibility and more travel choices.
SriLankan Airlines passengers will benefit from convenient connections via Dubai’s bustling aviation hub to over 30 destinations served by flydubai. These destinations include unique locations in Africa, Central Asia, Central and Southeast Europe, and the Middle East. Travelers can explore destinations like Bucharest, Istanbul, Krakow, Mombasa, Naples, Sofia, Tashkent, and Zanzibar.
Conversely, flydubai passengers will gain access to 16 key destinations within SriLankan Airlines’ extensive network, spanning Southern and East Asia, the Middle East, and Australia. Popular stops on this route network include Melbourne, Seoul, Singapore, and Tokyo.
Richard Nuttall, Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that it strengthens their strategy to broaden their network and global reach. He emphasized the increased travel options and flexibility it offers to customers. “We look forward to collaborating with flydubai and welcoming their passengers aboard our flights to experience an authentic SriLankan journey,” he added.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, shared similar sentiments, highlighting the agreement’s potential to further strengthen trade and tourism relations between the UAE and Sri Lanka. He emphasized the consistent demand for travel between the two countries since flydubai began operations to Sri Lanka in 2010. “Dubai remains an important thriving aviation hub, and through these interline agreements, this will open up new horizons for our passengers, giving them more options to explore the world with ease,” he said.
This new interline agreement provides passengers with the convenience of single-ticket journeys, seamless baggage check-through, and synchronized flight schedules for a smooth travel experience.
