SriLankan Airlines Fuels BikingMan Ultracycling World Championship in Sri Lanka, Unveiling its Adventure Tourism Potential

SriLankan Airlines, the national carrier of Sri Lanka, played a pivotal role in the thrilling finale of the seventh season of the BikingMan Ultracycling World Championship, held in Sri Lanka from May 9th to May 13th, 2024. The event showcased the country’s potential for adventure sports and tourism, with over 50 international competitors pushing their limits amidst the country’s picturesque landscapes.

The carefully designed route highlighted Sri Lanka’s famous tourist attractions, including Sigiriya, Dambulla, and the Knuckles Mountain Range. SriLankan Airlines’ partnership with the event facilitated a smooth experience for both participants and organizers, leveraging the event to promote Sri Lanka through social media, European sports channels, and the BikingMan network.

The race tested the endurance and showcased the resilience of athletes, while also highlighting the beauty of Sri Lanka. The competitors covered 200 kilometers daily over five days, relying solely on their resilience and the stunning vistas of the Sri Lankan countryside.

“It has been an incredible life lesson: the hospitality of the Sri Lankans, the lush landscapes, the immersion experience, I am not ready to forget this exploration,” raved participant, Alain Broglia from France.

“For me, it ́s the hardest BikingMan I ́ve done. A lot of unknown elements (the food‚ the heat‚ the route)‚ which made it difficult as well as an unforgettable gravel experience‚” said Franck Vergely from France.

“It was amazing! And the sunrises and sunsets were absolutely magnificent‚” added Ceri and James Bickenel from the UK.
