The Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA), the regulatory body for coastal tourism in the Kingdom, has recently granted the first three licenses to tourist marina operators. These marinas are Al-Ahlam Marine in Jeddah and Jazan, and Red Sea Marina in Jeddah. This move aligns with SRSA’s mandate to issue licenses and permits for navigational and marine tourism activities as part of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to foster a thriving coastal tourism sector.
The issuance of these licenses marks a significant milestone in the development of coastal tourism within the Kingdom. It underscores SRSA’s unwavering commitment to fostering navigational and marine tourism activities, thereby creating a secure and welcoming environment for visitors from both near and far. Ultimately, this initiative aims to position the Red Sea as a premier global tourist destination.
SRSA has been actively conducting field visits to tourist marinas across Jeddah, Jazan, Al Laith, and Yanbu. These visits provide technical, administrative, and advisory assistance to marina operators, ensuring adherence to international standards and verifying the readiness of these facilities to cater to both local and international visitors. The field visits have also led to significant enhancements to tourist marinas, implemented by the private sector as a strategic partner in advancing Saudi Arabia’s coastal tourism sector.
The primary objective of this initiative is to establish operational and technical protocols for marinas, elevate the standard of services offered to tourists, preserve the marine ecosystem, and ensure long-term sustainability. SRSA aims to regulate the operational framework of marine watercraft and foster coastal tourism in line with its overarching objectives.
