Stalin Rejects BJP Alliance Rumours, Praises Rajnath Singh’s Gesture

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has firmly refuted claims of an alliance between his party, the DMK, and the BJP. These rumours emerged following Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to Chennai, where he paid tribute to the late Chief Minister M Karunanidhi by releasing a commemorative coin marking his centenary birth anniversary.

While acknowledging Singh’s gesture as a pleasant surprise, Stalin clarified that the DMK’s ideology, not political expediency, guides their alliances. He highlighted the fact that Singh had visited the Kalaignar memorial, expressing his admiration for the late leader.

Stalin further praised Singh’s tribute to Karunanidhi, saying it surpassed the praise offered by even the DMK’s alliance partners. He emphasized that the DMK’s stance on alliances is guided by ideology, citing former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s words on Karunanidhi’s commitment to principled politics.

The Chief Minister also criticized AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami’s criticism of the DMK’s handling of the coin release event, accusing him of hypocrisy and seeking political gain. He asserted that the DMK’s commitment to principles prevents them from aligning with the BJP, and that their actions are guided by the legacy of their founders, C N Annadurai and M Karunanidhi.

This statement comes amid ongoing political speculation and media scrutiny regarding the DMK’s potential alliance with the BJP. Stalin’s clear rejection of these rumours provides further clarity on the party’s political stance and its commitment to its ideological foundation.
