Star Alliance, the premier global airline network, has launched a unique initiative designed to benefit frequent flyers in Scandinavia. The program allows members of SAS EuroBonus, Scandinavia’s leading frequent flyer program, to match their status with corresponding levels in the programs of other participating Star Alliance airlines.
This initiative offers significant advantages for travelers in Northern Europe seeking seamless travel and unparalleled loyalty perks. Star Alliance boasts a robust network, with its member airlines operating over 3,650 monthly flights to Scandinavia from 26 global hubs, connecting passengers to more than 1,070 destinations worldwide – a reach unmatched by any other airline alliance.
The participating airlines in this status match/challenge include major carriers such as Air Canada, Air China, Air India, Ethiopian Airlines, various airlines within the Lufthansa Group, South African Airways, TAP Air Portugal, THAI, Turkish Airlines, and United. The campaign allows for the alignment of frequent flyer statuses across the gold and silver tiers, where applicable.
“Global travelers today seek unmatched network, access to more lounges, and benefits at more airports. With its 25 world-class member airlines, only Star Alliance is best positioned to deliver these advantages to frequent flyers in the Nordic countries,” said Renato Ramos, Vice President Strategy, Star Alliance.
Eligible status holders can easily apply for a status match or participate in the status challenge for the programs of the aforementioned airlines by visiting staralliance.com/statusmatch. This opportunity is open to all on a voluntary basis at no cost. The promotion runs from September 1st to November 30th, 2024, inclusive.
Star Alliance’s presence in Scandinavia extends beyond this initiative. 18 member airlines maintain direct routes to and from the region, including Aegean Airlines, Air Canada, Air China, Air India, ANA, Austrian, Brussels Airlines, Croatia Airlines, EGYPTAIR, Ethiopian Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, SWISS, TAP Air Portugal, THAI, Turkish Airlines, and United.
As the largest global airline alliance, Star Alliance provides 17,500 daily flights across 189 countries. In Scandinavia, Star Alliance and its member carriers continue to provide a broad spectrum of travel choices, emphasizing outstanding customer service and a premium travel experience.
