Starfish Lagoon: Carnival Cruise Line Unveils Family-Friendly Paradise on Grand Bahama

Nestled within Starfish Lagoon, the Flash Flamingo and Mach III Marlin water slides provide heart-pounding thrills. These towering slides stretch over 350 feet, offering a whirlwind of twists and colorful light effects that culminate in a splashy finale. For younger visitors, Guppy Grotto offers a colorful splash pad at the lagoon’s entrance. This interactive area includes a shallow wading pool, playful water toys, and shaded seating for parents.

Adjacent to the splash pad, the Game Pavilion invites families to socialize and play games like foosball, ping pong, and corn hole. Comfortable seating areas offer a place to relax and unwind. For those seeking a more active experience, the Sports Court features facilities for volleyball, basketball, and pickleball.

On the water, floating AquaBanas provide a unique way to relax and soak up the sun. These sturdy cabanas can accommodate up to eight people and come equipped with a table, non-slip flooring, and easy water access. A convenient bar is nearby for refreshments. Adults can indulge in a selection of vibrant drinks, including specialty frozen rum cocktails, at the Swim Up Bar located directly in the pool.

For peaceful respite, hammocks are strung up near the majestic Suncastle, offering panoramic views of Starfish Lagoon. The site also boasts a beautiful beach with areas for kayaking and paddleboarding. Guests can also enjoy frisbee and sandcastle construction, while sun loungers, umbrellas, and beachside cabanas provide ample seating and shade.

A variety of dining options are available throughout Starfish Lagoon, including restaurants, snack bars, and Bahamian food trucks. Families can choose from a wide range of culinary delights to satisfy their cravings.

“At Carnival, we carry more children than any other cruise line, so we’ve designed Starfish Lagoon specifically for family fun,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “Toddlers, teens and adults alike will find their own piece of paradise whether it be racing down one of the waterslides, playing a round of pickleball or relaxing on our floating AquaBanas.”

Starfish Lagoon is one of five gateways at Celebration Key, joining Paradise Plaza, Calypso Lagoon, Lokono Cove, and an exclusive adults-only private retreat. Carnival will soon reveal more details about this private retreat.

Celebration Key is set to open its doors to the first visitors in July 2025. Currently, over 500 available itineraries include stops at this new locale aboard 18 ships departing from 10 U.S. homeports.
