PlayStation State of Play Returns with 30+ Minute Showcase
PlayStation will kick off the summer of digital video game reveal streams with a State of Play broadcast on Thursday, May 30 at 3 p.m. PT. State of Play is one of Sony’s primary livestream presentation formats, typically shorter than the company’s flagship stream, the PlayStation Showcase. This State of Play is particularly significant as Sony’s first-party game lineup for 2024 remains unknown. The stream is expected to shed light on upcoming releases for the year.
14 PS5 Games, Including PSVR2 and PlayStation Studios Titles
Sony has teased that the stream will run for over 30 minutes and showcase 14 PS5 games. Some of those will be PlayStation VR2 titles, while others will be from PlayStation Studios, indicating that the stream will not be exclusively focused on third-party partners.
PSVR2 Revival
The inclusion of PSVR2 is particularly noteworthy. Sony’s latest VR headset has seen limited support since its launch, with no first-party support outside of the launch game Horizon: Call of the Mountain. Whether any of the PlayStation Studios titles showcased will be PSVR2 games remains uncertain, but the platform could benefit from a boost, especially as Sony reportedly plans to make the headset compatible with PC in the near future.

Numerous rumors are circulating regarding potential reveals during the showcase, ranging from a new Astro game to God of War Ragnarok’s PC port. Partners like Capcom and Square Enix have also been known to make appearances on PlayStation streams, raising the possibility of surprises from major franchises like Resident Evil.
