Steelers News Snippets: Wallace, Aiyuk, Fautanu, Miller, Boone

Steelers lose defensive back Levi Wallace to the Denver Broncos.

Wallace played two seasons in Pittsburgh, starting 18 games and intercepting six passes. Joey Porter Jr. and Donte Jackson are expected to be the Steelers’ primary cornerbacks in 2024.

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch is downplaying speculation of a potential Brandon Aiyuk trade, but his comments leave the door open for a deal.

Aiyuk wants a new contract instead of the team’s $14.1 million fifth-year option. The Steelers have been linked to Aiyuk trade rumors as a potential destination.

Washington tackle Troy Fautanu has an injury concern that could impact his longevity in the pros.

The Steelers met with Fautanu before his Pro Day.

Bethel Park’s Mason Miller had another excellent outing for the Oakland A’s on Monday, striking out all three batters he faced in the bottom of the ninth to close out a 2-0 win over the New York Yankees.

Miller has 20 strikeouts in 11 innings pitched this season.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone was ejected in the first inning of Monday’s game against the Athletics when umpire Hunter Wendelstedt heard an inflammatory comment from a fan and thought that it came from Boone.

Boone called the ejection “embarrassing” and said he would be reaching out to Major League Baseball.
