A stolen vehicle pursuit in Southern California ended in a violent rollover crash in West Covina, resulting in the arrest of the suspect. The incident unfolded on April 23, 2024, when authorities in Upland alerted the La Verne Police Department about a stolen vehicle with a male suspect and a female passenger driving in the vicinity of Williams Avenue and Foothill Boulevard. Upon attempting a traffic stop, the suspect refused to yield and led authorities on a chase onto the westbound 10 Freeway. During the pursuit, the female passenger made multiple attempts to exit the vehicle but was forcibly pulled back inside by the suspect. She eventually managed to jump out of the vehicle, while the suspect continued the chase on and off the 10 Freeway and through the streets of West Covina. The suspect even entered the parking garage of an Ikea store before exiting and colliding with another vehicle at the intersection of Barranca and Garvey avenues. The impact caused the stolen vehicle to overturn and land on its side. Police and paramedics responded to the scene, where the suspect sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. The extent of the injuries or damage to the other vehicle involved in the collision was not disclosed. Authorities have not released any information about the female passenger. The suspect is expected to face charges of felony evading, domestic violence, and false imprisonment.
