During a routine traffic stop near Airbase Parkway and Dover Avenue on Friday at 11:44 p.m., a Fairfield police officer attempted to pull over a vehicle without license plates. However, the car failed to yield, initiating a vehicle pursuit. The chase ended when the car crashed near Cement Hill and Gulf Drive.
The driver and front passenger abandoned the vehicle and fled to a nearby field, while the two rear passengers remained in the car and cooperated with the authorities. Officers from the Solano County Sheriff’s Office set up a perimeter to assist the Fairfield Police Department in their search for the fleeing suspects.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered a loaded firearm on the rear floorboard and a large bag of marijuana. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been stolen from Oakland.
Thanks to the keen observation of the Fairfield police officer, the assistance of the Solano County Sheriff’s Office, and the efficient utilization of the K-9 unit, a suspect was identified and apprehended. The suspect, identified as Cameron Robertson, a resident of Oakland, was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail on multiple charges, including felony reckless evading.
