Stree 2, the horror-comedy sequel directed by Amar Kaushik and starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao, continues to dominate the box office. The film raked in an estimated ₹37 crore on August 19, despite a 33 percent decrease from the previous day. This drop can be attributed to the extended Raksha Bandhan weekend. However, Stree 2 still crossed a significant milestone, surpassing ₹200 crore in net earnings in India within just five days since its release. According to film industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has grossed an estimated ₹228.45 crore net in India as of August 19.
The film’s success is evident in its high theatre occupancy. On Monday, August 19, Stree 2 had an overall 49.48 percent occupancy for 3D Hindi language screenings. This translates to 26.89 percent ticket sales in the morning, 42.74 percent in the afternoon, 63.32 percent in the evening, and 64.95 percent in the night.
Stree 2 has not only become a box office sensation, but it has also made history by delivering the biggest opening for a female-led movie in Bollywood history. On its release day, coinciding with Independence Day (August 15), the film grossed ₹51.8 crore net. This record-breaking performance came despite the simultaneous release of two other films, Vedaa and Khel Khel Mein. Stree 2 continued to overshadow its competitors, generating ₹31.4 crore gross on Friday (August 16). The film enjoyed a successful weekend (August 17-18), earning an estimated net of ₹99.75 crore combined.
Stree 2, featuring a cameo by Akshay Kumar, was made on a budget of ₹50 crore. The film has garnered positive reviews and is currently being screened at over 1,600 screens. With its strong performances, captivating storyline, and a talented cast, Stree 2 is poised to continue its box office reign for weeks to come.
