Sumit Antil, the reigning Paralympic champion in men’s javelin throw F64, has his sights set on defending his gold medal at the Paris Paralympics. The Games are scheduled to take place from August 2nd to September 8th, 2024. Antil is not only aiming to defend his title but also to improve upon his own world record. He achieved the current world record of 68.55 meters in Tokyo, winning India’s second gold medal at the Games.
India is set to compete in 12 sports at the Paris Paralympics, including archery, athletics, badminton, canoeing, cycling, blind judo, powerlifting, rowing, shooting, swimming, table tennis, and taekwondo. The country is aiming to build on its impressive performance at the Tokyo Paralympics, where it won 19 medals, and at the Para Asian Games, where it achieved a historic 111 medals.
